So I’ve been thinking of doing a hair product post for a while now but I found it really difficult to narrow down what my favourite products were because to be honest, I chop and change them constantly. I rarely buy the same shampoo and conditioner in a row and I love sampling new products all the time. HOWEVER, some of the products that I’m going to list below are old favourites of mine which I keep going back to because I find that they work the best for me and then some of the products are just ones that I’m obsessed with at this moment in time. All the products that I am about to list are products that I would recommend but I think before you rush out and buy any product you should consider your hair type first as not every body has the same needs. I have pretty long hair that tends to get dry ends and greasy quicker at the scalp so it’s pretty much combination hair.My hair is naturally curly and can get really out of hand so a lot of these products cater for this.
Garnier Fructis Style Surf Hair beach look spray: Texturising spray that gives a matte effect and that beachy look. This is one of those products that I don’t use a whole lot however I always make sure that I don’t run out. This is great when I’m going au natural with my hair, leaving it to dry curly naturally. I just spray this all over my towel-dried hair and make scrunching motions to work the product into my hair and create a kind of tousled effect. Personally I think this is more of a summer look as it genuinely gives your hair that “just been to the beach” look. This spray is great for all hair types but it can be quite drying on the hair so i wouldn’t recommend that you use it daily.
Pantene “Nature Fusion” Moisture balance leave in conditioner: There are so many great leave-in conditioners on the market catering for specific hair types and conditions. I wanted to find one that treated my dry damaged ends while at the same time not being to heavy. Pantene is renound for its “restorative” products and they are one of the best brands out there for healing your hair. This one in particular is inspired and works to balance the moisture content in your hair. This is PERFECT for my hair type. It hydrates my dry ends but at the same time is light enough to not weigh down my roots. It smells amazing and leaves your hair ridiculously soft to touch after. Again this product can be used on pretty much all hair types but those with my hair type or similar will probably benefit the most!
Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Time Renewal shampoo and conditioner: Like I said before I don’t exactly have a favourite shampoo or conditioner because I pretty much just change to a different brand every time I run out. So I’m just going to review the brand that I’m using at the moment. I’ve always been a great fan of Pantene and pretty much every product of theirs that I’ve used I’ve been more than happy with the results. I chose this particular type because it promises to fight the signs of damage. I recently got my hair cut so I have no split ends and my hair is in pretty good condition so hopefully this shampoo and conditioner will keep my hair in this way. Like all Pantene products it smells really great and gives it that salon silky feel to your hair. This pair caters for a particular hair type but you can find a Pantene shampoo and conditioner that cater for pretty much every hair type.
John Frieda “FRIZZ-EASE” hair serum: Like the Garnier beach look spray, this is another product that I only use occasionally. This is just a hair serum that works to correct any frizziness in your hair and keeps your ends looking sleek. I tend to just smooth a tiny dab on my fingers and run through the ends of my hair. This works great when you’ve straightened your hair and you want to give your style a flawless finish. I never really use this anywhere except my ends as serum can make your hair very greasy very quick. Again all hair types can use this but those who suffer from the dreaded frizz will be extra grateful of this miracle worker.
TREsemme Salon finish extra hold hairspray: I’ve actually already discussed this product in a previous “Favourites” post but I couldn’t go without mentioning it again. This is a firm old reliable and is pretty much the only hairspray I use. I have 3 cans of this stuff. One large can which I keep at home and then two smaller cans that I pop into my handbag and one for my travel bag for weekends away or holidays etc. This hairspray says Extra hold and it does just that… it will keep your hair in place pretty much all day without that yuckie stickie feeling and will brush out easily at night. It smells nice and lasts for aaaages. I recommend this to everybody!
TREsemme 24hour Body sky high plumping powder: This is probably the most recent addition to my hair product collection. In the last few months I’ve heard ALOT about plumping powders and how great they are and blah blah. So of course I had to get in on this. Being a loyal TREsemme groupie I decided to embark on my first plumping powder experience with their 24hour body range. Having naturally curly hair, I’ve never exactly needed help in the volume area of things. However,I was pleasantly surprised with the effects of using this product. This comes in the form of a white powder which you shake on your hand and work into your roots. The powder works with your roots in a similar way to a texturising spray and gives it a full bouncy voluminous look. People with limp hair will adore this but pretty much every one should have this in their collection to even pull out for a special night out.
Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush: Again, I’ve already discussed this product in a previous post so I won’t go to in-depth into this review. This is another firm favourite of mine. It works like a regular dry shampoo reviving hair between washes. Great to bring on nights out to freshen up your side fringe or just your roots in general. It also is a festival staple product. I have this in Blush which means it has a kind of floral scent opposed to the regular dry shampoo-y smell? Either works great though. This is another product that I think anybody of any hair type should have…you’ll thank me..
Aussie “Take the Heat” leave in heat defence spray: A few years ago I had a massive chat with my hairdresser and she was kind enough to give me a list of the “must-have” products that you should always use. And a good heat defence spray was top of that list. Anybody who uses a hair dryer/hair straightner/curling tongs etc (pretty much anything that applies heat to your hair) NEEDS to use a heat defence spray. Your hair is insanley susceptible to damage caused by heat and without proper care your hair can break, become dry and can even “die”. I use a few squirts of this spray to towel dry hair and then again to dry hair before I use any styling tool ( straightners or curling tongs etc). I’ve chosen Aussie because I heard so many great reviews about their products but pretty much every hair product company do good heat defence sprays in their range and most even cater to specific hair types.
TREsemme Restructuring deep conditioning treatment masque: This is one of my most favourite of all the products that I’ve mentioned above pretty much because of the amazing results that it creates. This is a restorative hair mask which works similar to a face mask. You apply generously all throughout freshly washed wet hair and leave in for between 15 to 20mins and then rinse thoroughly. It is a rescue remedy for your hair and leaves your hair feeling nourished, restored and really really smooth. I tend to use this two to three times a week.
Ionika “Bebe” deluxe travel hairdryer: I decided to throw in this random product at the end of this post because I’m a little bit obsessed with it at the minute. I decided to purchase this travel hair dryer to have handy for if i go away for a few days or on holiday and dont want to bring my big clumpy hairdryer. It’s really small so it fits in my handbag and it has the cutest design ever. Not only that, but it is also a really great quality hairdryer which dries your hair in good time and has two power settings. This would be a great investment for those who go away alot and like to travel light.
and of course last but not least my trusty GHD… I don’t think I even need to go on… 😉
Ok well that’s it guys, I hope you enjoyed reading this post and found it interesting and/or informative. As I’ve already said, most of these products are just “favourites” of the moment cause I change products so often. But I would definitely recommend all these products to anyone who is interested in investing in some new hair care. As always I would really love and appreciate some feedback on my posts, let me know what you think, give suggestions, share opinions and of course please subscribe. I’m thinking of possibly doing a nail varnish review next so let me know what you think.
Thanks again for reading guys and Happy Hairstyling! 🙂 Kx
