We’ve all been there, be it from feeling under the weather, tough day at work or just generally feeling down in the dumps, there are days when we all need a pick me up.. Here are a few of my favs that are budget friendly with little or no effort involved.

Fluffy socks and a mug of tea: I’ll always stand by the fact that there’s little a pair of fluffy socks and a mug of tea can’t solve. It’s my first go- to pick me up when I’m feeling just a little meh! I’m really at my happiness when I’m cosy with a large mug of tea in my hand. If tea isn’t your thang, (firstly, are you crazy?) then hot chocolate with marshmallows will do just the trick. Pop on your favourite show.. GIRLS works for me everytime and in an hour, everything feels sunnyside up again. Tea has been scientifically proven to reduce the stress hormone Cortisol, it also lowers your risk of cancer and strokes and improves your immune system overall. What are you waiting for, drink more tea guys, it’s science!! and wear fluffy socks because…. they’re fluffy!

Thrift store shopping spree: This is honestly one of my favourite things to do. Even when I’m at my most poor, I can’t control that niggling feeling I get to SPEND SPEND SPEND. So instead of hovering over my saved basket on ASOS, I set myself a small budget, sometimes 10 or 20 euro and I trail along different charity shops and see just how much I can get for my buck! I have come home with the most amazing finds from quirky scarves to books I’ve wanted to read for years. The great thing about a thrift shop shopping spree is that you don’t feel guilty afterwards and you find things you wouldn’t normally find on your typical high street search.

Pamper kit: This is something that you can have prepared in advance. I like to have an emergency pamper kit which I believe to be just as important as a first aid kit. My kit contains magazines freebies and minis that I’ve accumulated over time. All you really need is a nice face mask, a nail polish and a hand cream to have a mini pamper session. If you are lucky enough to have a bath, have a soak for 15mins, pop in a hair and face mask, paint your nails and toenails.. you’ll honestly feel like a new woman.

Surf the net: People say happiness can’t be bought but I believe it can be downloaded/googled/streamed. Whether your someone who likes a cute cat video, drooling over online food blogs or hypothetically window shopping on ASOS, there’s something for everyone online. Pinterest is one of my favourite places to spend a rainy evening on. My “boards” are packed to the brim with style, DIY and recipe inspiration.
That’s all for now guys, I hope that I’ve given some ideas of ways to turn that frown upside down!
BE HAPPY and cheer up buttercup x
