I’m a huge supporter of the brand Rimmel and regularly use their “Wake me Up” foundation so when I heard that they had a new foundation on sale.. well ladies, how could I resist?! The new foundation is an adaptation of one of their existing foundations from the “Lasting Finish” range. The “naked” version promises a more natural finish but with a medium coverage and the same lasting power as the original. I grabbed both foundations during a trip to Boots and decided to put them both to the test….
Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Foundation- The Original
- The red lid
- Full coverage
- SPF 20
- Sweat, heat, humidity and transfer proof for up to 25hrs
The one that started it all.. the original Lasting Finish foundation boasts a full coverage finish that will NOT budge all day & night. I don’t know about night (cause I’m a good beauty blogger and remove my make-up) but it certainly lasts all day with no touch-ups needed. It’s infused with a “comfort serum” which is supposed to make the heavier coverage feel more comfortable on the face but to be completely honest, it didnt work for me. This foundation is very thick in consistency and I was very aware of it on my skin throughout the days I wore this. That said and done, I think this would be a great foundation for a night out or an event where you need heavy duty coverage.
Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Nude Foundation
- The white lid
- Medium coverage
- SPF 20
- Sweat, heat, humidity and transfer proof for up to 25hrs.
So we have the original, why do we need a nude version? Well, I’ll tell you why; it’s great! The nude version has similar credentials to it’s sister with lasting power for up to 25hrs. While it claims to be medium coverage; I would disagree and say that it’s definitely a full coverage. The Nude version felt much more lightweight on my face and was far easier to blend. I was left with a more natural finish than with the original version, something that I’m much more comfortable with for a daily make-up look. Perfect foundation if you need or want a full coverage effect without that yucky cakey-ness!
My only concern is that I found that they were both quite strongly scented foundations which I think annoyed my skin quite a bit, so something to consider if you have any skin sensitivity.
Overall, I think they were great quality for the price (both retail for under 10 Euro) They definitely live up to their name as they did tend to last the entire day (even during sweaty busy days at work!).
It’s safe to say that the Lasting Finish foundations have made it to my permanent make-up stash but I’m not giving up my “Wake me Up” foundation any time soon!
Have you tried either of these foundations? What’s your favourite foundation?
