L’oreal Lumi Magique Touch of Light Highlighting Pen

*Phew, well if anything it certainly wins top points for the longest name*

I can thank copious amounts of late night episodes of Modern Family lately for some rather unwelcome dark circles and bags under my eyes. While my good ol’ reliable Soap & Glory Trick or Treatment under-eye concealer usually does the job itself on a daily basis, lately it just hasn’t been cutting it! I’d heard great things in the blogging world about L’oreal’s newest highlighting tool and the beauty addict in me just couldn’t hold back.

Very similar to the cult classic, the infamous YSL Touche Eclat but with a slightly more friendly price-tag the highlighter comes in a “clicky pen” which I’m usually not a massive fan of,  as I find that I never get just the right amount of product. I will turn a blind eye however as the brush is soft and gentle on my sensitive skin and the small nib-end proves competent for getting  into even the weeniest corners of your eye area.

To use, apply in a v-shape underneath the eye (see above) and blend in, with either a small tapered blending brush or lightly with your ring finger. I also like to use a small dab of this on my brow bone and in the corner of my tear-duct to brighten the eyes further.

What makes this product really impressive is that the formula is creamy and non-drying so it won’t stick to any dry patches or become flaky throughout the day. It blends beautifully into the skin and never looks cakey.

Something to bare in mind though is that this product is a highlighter, not a concealer. The coverage is average, so if your dark circles are bad, you may need to use this in conjunction with your own concealer.

The only downside I can really find, is that like most drug-store products unfortunately, the shade range is very poor, coming in only three; light, medium and dark. I use light which seems to work quite well for me once blended in carefully on top of my foundation. Take some time testing out the shades before you buy, as buying a shade too dark will end up worsening your dark circles rather than vanishing them.

Overall, this product is best for those looking to brighten up the eye area and giving you that much coveted “refreshed and awake” look that we all want but rarely have. Thanks a lot Netflix!

Still not sure if this bad boy is for you? Well, to top it all off, the rose gold packaging is pretty and looks swish in your make-up bag..when it comes to make-up, lets face it, appearance does matter 😉

This little golden wonder retails for just under €13 in most good pharmacies and selected L’oreal stockists worldwide. Now what are you waiting for….?

    1. It really is. I can see no major differences between them, except that the Touche Eclat offers a teeny bit more coverage.
